SEA OF RED
Memorial Stadium – Home of the Huskers
Home of the Huskers since 1923, and since 1962 the site of an ongoing NCAA-record consecutive sellout streak that has exceeded 50 seasons: it has been sold out for 354 games in a row. Memorial Stadium plays host to one of the most exciting game-day experiences in all of college football.
Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior
Did you know that researchers at the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior in East Stadium are conducting groundbreaking research to uncover mysteries about brain function and how it affects human behavior? Their findings could help improve treatments for concussions and other brain injuries.
Inscribed on the stadium’s four corners are these words, written by former UNL professor of philosophy Hartley Burr Alexander:
“In Commemoration of the men of Nebraska who served and fell in the Nation’s Wars.
Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory.
Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport.
Their Lives they held their country’s trust; They kept its faith; They died its heroes.”
the East Stadium Expansion, completed in 2013, increased seating capacity in Memorial Stadium to more than 91,000.
